Four carefully designed initiatives that meet young people where they are and take them somewhere extraordinary.
Whether a child loves fantasy novels, has never finished a book, or secretly wants to write one, we have a program for them. All free. All year round.
Our flagship program. Weekly after-school clubs where groups of 8–15 young people read, discuss, and connect over books. Every session is facilitated by a trained reading guide, a volunteer who loves books and loves kids.
Members vote on what they read next. They keep every book. And at the end of each month, the club holds a "book talk", a celebration of what they discovered between the pages.
Every child has a story inside them. Our writing workshops, led by published authors, poets, and journalists, give young people the craft, confidence, and community to tell it.
Sessions cover short fiction, poetry, personal essays, and experimental forms. There are no red pens here: we celebrate voice, risk-taking, and originality above technical perfection.
One in five children in the US does not have a single book at home. Our book drives change that, collecting, curating, and distributing thousands of new and gently-used books every year to families and schools that need them most.
We don't just dump boxes. Every donation is sorted by age and interest, so each child receives books genuinely chosen for them.
Meeting a real author changes everything. When a child sees that books are written by ordinary human beings, not some distant mythical figure, they start to believe they could write one too.
We coordinate visits from novelists, poets, graphic novelists, and journalists to schools and libraries across the country. Authors lead readings, Q&As, and hands-on writing activities.
Each year we publish a collection of writing by our program participants, stories, poems, and essays by young people of all levels. Every contributor receives a printed copy with their name on the cover.
We're always looking to expand. If you're a school, library, or community organisation, let's talk.
